The SK project aims to achieve the following objectives:

- the sharing of experiences among students and expatriates in Shanghai who have learnt or are currently learning Mandarin as a foreign language, and those who have pursued (or are currently pursuing) their degree in a Shanghai university.

- to provide references for newcomers and just about anyone interested in learning about Shanghai through the eyes of foreigners living here.

- to build "bridges" between cultures.

- to color lives of those who shared and those who wanted to ¡®hear¡¯ and learn from the sharing.

What are required from the contributors?

- contributor must have learned Chinese (by oneself, at school or taught by parents or tutors)

- contributions must be in one of the following forms:

1. Writings
Article/prose, poem, drama*, fiction* (for drama, fiction: must contain some details that are based on a true story, things that have happened in Shanghai only) Written in English/Chinese/Indonesian. Max 1500 words. >> For those of you who have interesting stories but are not sure if you can put it into a prose, jot it all down in point form and if we're able to include them, we will compose it into story by interviewing you!

2. Photography
Black and white is preferred. Pixel minimum: 400. Mixed media is allowed.

3.Illustration Black and white is preferred. Digital image is fine, good picture resolutions is necessary.

4. Music/song Must be in the written form. With title (with lyrics is preferable).

For photos, illustrations and music, please also include some of the backgrounds of those works, e.g.: why it was created that way.

What can you write? (the following themes are only suggestions, we welcome your idea and suggestions):

1. your impressions of the city, how it changes
2. struggling (for edu/work/making friends), dilemma (work, study, love, future, leaving), adaptation (getting the rhythm), cultural clashes
3. hope, expectations and dreams
4. making friends (with the locals, the other expats; love-in Shanghai ;p )
5. funny stories (language, culture, etc), embarrassing moments
6. loving Shanghai (hang out places, special places)
7. study, school activities, organization, the benefit of living/studying in Shanghai, scholarship info
8. staying in Shanghai, creating/having a family in Shanghai
